Cornell women's tennis coasts past Duhawks, 7-2

Cornell swept all three doubles matches and rolled to its first dual triumph of the spring, 7-2 over host Loras Sunday.
Sophomores Alyssa Zavislak, Kara Middleton and Kathleen Ellis and freshman Wanda Carter were all two-time winners for the Rams, who improved to 6-10 overall.
Zavislak teamed with Samantha De Gannes for an 8-0 shutout at No. 1 doubles. Zavislak also did not surrender a game in a 6-0, 6-0 pasting at No. 2 singles.
Middleton won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, and joined Ellis in an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles. Ellis prevailed 7-5, 6-4 in her No. 4 singles match.
Carter coasted to a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 5 singles. She and Erin Seely edged the No. 3 doubles team from Loras, 9-7.
Coming up - The Rams travel to play Iowa Conference champion Luther in the IIAC Automatic Qualifier Tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 30 in Decorah. Cornell fell 6-0 to the Norse in the semifinals of the IIAC Team Tournament last October.
