A Cedar Rapids pilot is currently flying across the Atlantic Ocean to support polio eradication efforts with a goal of raising $1 million for the cause. The campaign has already raised $100,000.

The Cedar Rapids Downtown Rotary Club hosted the fourth annual Grand Impact event where three local non-profits competed for funding. The winner was Willis Dady Homeless Services, which will use its $100,000 prize to expand a recycling program.

A $100,000 grant funded by local businesses allowed the Cedar Rapids-based nonprofit Kingdom Community Center to purchase an extended passenger van in August to address transportation needs for local youth.
