West Des Moines-based retail chain Hy-Vee will permanently close its Collins Road NE grocery store, adjacent to Lindale Mall in Cedar Rapids, as of 6 p.m. Jan. 9.
The store has 53 full-time and 141 part-time employees, Hy-Vee communications officer Tina Potthoff said in an email.
Three other stores — in Moline, Ill.; Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Kansas City, Mo. — also will be closed next year. The Sioux Falls location will become “a non-retail site,” the chain said in a news release, and the Kansas City store will be converted to a Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits venue.
The Moline store will be shuttered permanently, as of Jan. 1.
The company said all affected employees will be offered positions, with the same pay and benefits, at other stores in each respective market.
Pharmacy customers will receive a letter notifying them their prescriptions will be transferred to a nearby Hy-Vee Pharmacy, or a pharmacy of their choosing, the company also said.
Hy-Vee Aisles Online pick-up services at these stores will cease as of Monday, Dec. 6. Delivery options will be fulfilled by a nearby Hy-Vee location, the chain said.
Hy-Vee reported it has more than 285 retail stores in eight Midwestern states and sales of more than $12 billion annually.
