Willie Ray’s Q Shack announces new location for barbecue

CEDAR RAPIDS — Willie Ray’s Q Shack will soon be available at a second convenient location.
The restaurant announced Saturday plans to serve its legendary barbecue soon at a new location on the southwest side: the Shell gas station at 5340 16th Ave. SW, near the corner of 16th Avenue SW and West Post Road SW.
A start date for service at the new spot is not yet available, but a sign appearing at the location says it will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The new location will offer service in addition to owner Willie Ray Fairley’s existing brick-and-mortar at 266 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE.
The new move comes after Fairley started opening a brick-and-mortar with seating in July 2023. The restaurant opened across the parking lot from the small drive-thru shack Fairley started serving from, across the parking lot at 288 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, in 2019.
