CEDAR RAPIDS — Via Sofia’s Italian Kitchen has closed one of its Cedar Rapids locations.
The closure, announced on Monday, took effect immediately at its 1125 First Ave. SE location. The restaurant’s two other locations at 5411 Center Point Rd. NE and in Cedar Falls will remain open.
Via Sofia’s First Avenue location, which was previously home to a Zio Johno’s, opened in 2017. The restaurant was formed after partners in Zio Johno’s parted ways; the two restaurants have no affiliation today.
Via Sofia’s reopened a remodeled dining room at its Center Point Road location in April.
Zio Johno’s, founded by brothers John and Eli Khairallah, will celebrate its 40th anniversary in October. The brand operates restaurants in Cedar Rapids, Marion and Iowa City.
