An online auction from Backes Auctioneers, which goes live at 10 a.m. on Jan. 20 will give buyers the chance to bid on a rotisserie smoker, deck pizza ovens, pizza making tables, dining tables and other commercial kitchen essentials.

In a city with about 30 Mexican options, Mi Lindo Vallarta offers a less common variety of flavor from south of the border.

In a move of growth building on K.C. Cakes’ rapid success, owners Krystan Proctor and Alex Cooley spiced it up with a reopening this month as K.C. Cakes and Cajun.

Signs are pointing in a new direction for the former Mezcal Tequila Cocina space that closed abruptly in August.

Signs for the restaurant have reappeared at 4330 16th Ave. SW in Cedar Rapids — a space previously home to Highway 30 Diner, which moved to 1519 Sixth St. SW in June.

K.C. Cakes, first opened in November 2023 by Krystan Proctor and Alex Cooley, will become K.C. Cakes and Cajun as it starts serving Cajun food on Jan. 3.

The new Draft Dreamer Draft Cannabis line will be served in options including cocktails, teas, sodas and more at Field Day’s relatively new taproom, 925 Liberty Way.
