NewBo City Market extends hours ahead of big plans

May. 1, 2024 5:45 am
CEDAR RAPIDS — NewBo City Market is giving shoppers and diners just a taste of its big plans.
On May 1, the New Bohemia staple extended its hours, adding one day per week. In addition to being open Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday hours have been extended to match, allowing diners more ample dinner hours.
Or, they can participate in new bingo evenings, which will be held every Wednesday in May from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The business hour expansion comes ahead of big plans for the market, which is on track for a $2.5 million expansion next year.
In addition to planning for the only grocery store in that neighborhood, NewBo City Market eventually will be open seven days per week.
“We hope this means our role in the community will become solidified as the best option for diverse startup entrepreneurs to get the exposure and guidance they need to create a sustainable business that will grow to a permanent brick-and-mortar space within the community,” said Julie Parisi, NewBo City Market’s executive director. “Our expansion projects (includes) an indoor stage on the mezzanine level, which means year-round arts incubation and programming.”
