CORALVILLE — Iowa River Landing is continuing to grow with several new restaurants and shopping options.
Following the recent opening of Blue Agave Mexican restaurant, two more restaurants will open this fall and winter: Hokkaido Ramen House and Modern Market Eatery.
Hokkaido Ramen house, coming soon to the former Fuzzy’s Taco Shop location at 201 E. Ninth St., has more than 30 franchised locations across the country. Their entrance to Iowa follows 10 openings across Montana and Idaho in 2021.
The full-service restaurant offers a wide variety of Japanese savory ramen dishes served with oriental-style wheat noodles in broth with pork, chicken, beef, vegetables and a specially soft-boiled egg marinated in sweet soy sauce. Their menu also features other Asian specialties like tonkotsu pork and boba tea.
Also opening in Iowa River Landing is Modern Market Eatery on the ground floor of the Staybridge Suites hotel building. The franchise, which also is new to Iowa, comes to Coralville after building more than 30 locations in Arizona, Colorado, Indiana and Texas.
With plans to open in early 2024, the menu features an array of salads, soups, sandwiches, pizzas and protein bowls.
“With these new additions, we’ve added 10 new businesses to the neighborhood in 2023 and early 2024,” said Deanna Printy, Iowa River Landing property manager. “We’re thrilled to begin adding diverse tenants to the new Staybridge building and to continue to expand what the IRL has to offer.”
The new restaurants come on the heels of substantial growth and change at the mixed-use district, alongside several other new and upcoming tenants: AllSpice Culinarium, Ekin Nutrition, The GYM and X-Golf Simulator.
Beno’s Flowers, which first opened its downtown Iowa City location in 2018, will host a pop-up shop for the holiday season in the former Skin Body Soul location.
