New bicycle bar opening in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS — You’ve heard of the biker bar, but how about a bicycle bar?

The Loose Chain, a new bicycle-friendly bar is opening soon in Cedar Rapids, at 1731 Center Point Rd. NE, at the corner of 29th Street.

The “open concept bar,” which appears in photos with large garage doors open around the perimeter of the building, previously was home to an auto shop. The space under renovation is located right off a popular bike trail.

An opening date has not yet been announced, but previous social media posts from the bar indicate it is likely to open shortly.

Owners Amy Winker and Jake Brummer, who also started Kingston Pub on First Avenue SW and brought back the Red Frog bar in the Czech Village, told KCRG they hope to open by July.
