IOWA CITY — A family-owned food stand is growing with a new brick-and-mortar near the Pedestrian Mall.
Signs have appeared for Luna’s Tacos of Iowa City at 127 E. Washington St., next to Insomnia Cookies. The space was previously home to a Subway location.
The restaurant, owned by Isabel and Salatiel Luna, tentatively plans to open by the end of January, the restaurant told The Gazette.
Luna’s Tacos has become a staple in Iowa City since it started appearing at the Iowa City Farmers Market in 2019. In May 2021, the restaurant started operating its mobile food stand on the Ped Mall.
Its new, permanent expansion will be located adjacent to the Ped Mall.
