CEDAR RAPIDS — A new lager is in production to support the Cedar Rapids Public Library Foundation — from beer can shelves to book shelves.
Lion Bridge Brewing Company’s new Library Lager, set for release April 9 in conjunction with National Library Week, will support the Westside Library project. The new building is under construction and is slated to open in 2026.
Library Lager will be available at Lion Bridge’s taproom, 59 16th Ave. SW, and at local stores that carry Lion Bridge products.
The library also will serve Library Lager at Literary Vines, its annual gala, on April 18. Tickets can be purchased at CRLibrary.org/foundation.
“The library holds a special place in my heart, and having the opportunity to create this beer to raise awareness for the new Westside Library is a true honor,” said library board of trustees member and Lion Bridge co-owner Ana McClain. “As both a library trustee and a brewery owner, it felt like the perfect way to contribute our gifts and talents to this cause.”
National Library Week, April 6 to 12, is an annual celebration highlighting the valuable role libraries, librarians and library workers play in strengthening communities.
“Libraries are super important to us and our family,” said Quinton McClain, Lion Bridge co-owner and Ana’s husband. “We love what they provide and frequent them often. Supporting them is something Ana and I think is critical to the success of the community.”
The foundation’s $25 million Inspiring Big Dreams capital campaign is ongoing.
