CEDAR RAPIDS — A new nonprofit at Kazimour Farm & Orchard is blossoming with its inaugural fall harvest event.
GROWFest, set for Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., will offer all the sites and smells of fall at the century orchard, 2630 Otis Rd. SE.
The new event will offer a wide selection of apples and pumpkins, give a glimpse into the orchard’s history and offer guided tours with family-friendly activities throughout the day. Visitors can bring a picnic for lunch, pose next to the farm’s vintage 1936 truck, carve pumpkins, craft apples with paint and hunt for gnomes scattered around the property.
The festival will benefit Growing Real Opportunities for Work (GROW), a nonprofit at the recently revitalized acreage that helps bridge job insecurity for adults with disabilities.
