Hyper Energy Bar plans first Iowa City location

IOWA CITY — A small Iowa energy bar chain is expanding to Eastern Iowa soon.
Hyper Energy Bar, a cafe for coffee, infused energy drinks and smoothies, will be opening this fall at 115 E. College St. A specific opening date has not yet been announced.
The location, between ReUnion Brewery and Revival, marks Hyper’s first expansion outside of central Iowa, where it has five locations in the greater Des Moines area.
The Iowa City location, located on the Ped Mall, also will mark one of the cafe’s first locations without a drive-thru. All of its other open locations have a small building footprint with drive-thrus, similar to many Scooter’s Coffee locations that have popped up around Iowa.
Another new location is also in the works for Ankeny.
