CEDAR RAPIDS — Willis Dady Homeless Services is celebrating 10 years of putting the “fun” in fundraising with its annual Hops for Housing event.
The annual beer festival with live music, local breweries and pretzel necklaces will host its decennial event on April 12 from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at The Olympic South Side Theater, 1202 Third St. SE, Unit 200.
Tickets can be preordered online for $45 at givebutter.com/hops25. Tickets the day of the event will be $50. The event is open to anyone over 21.
Supporters can also order a limited edition 10th anniversary T-shirt through March 28.
Over the years, the event has grown through different venues, adding new breweries and adding a silent auction. But what has stayed consistent is its mission to support a leading Iowa nonprofit.
“It's been really cool to watch Hops for Housing grow and evolve over the last 10 years,” said Joe Sorenson, former staff member and current supporter. “Willis Dady is a leader in homeless services in Iowa, and it's great that this event can reach people who might not otherwise know what Willis Dady does.”
All proceeds support families experiencing homelessness in Linn County. With over $40,000 raised annually, Hops for Housing plays a vital role in supporting programs that empower people experiencing homelessness by providing housing, employment and advocacy services.
“As we go into year 10 of hosting Hops for Housing here at Willis Dady, I am humbled by the growth of the event and the outpouring of support we continue to receive from the community,” said Alicia Faust, director of Willis Dady. “As our largest event of the year, we appreciate those that sponsor this event either with a financial or in-kind gift, those that purchase a ticket to attend, the breweries that donate their time and talents, and our wonderful volunteers who help us execute the event.”
