Freedom Festival launches new Freedom FEASTival food truck event

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival has unveiled a new, food-oriented feature to the lineup of this year’s celebrations: the Freedom FEASTival.

The new event, set for May 3 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., will let attendees explore a variety of culinary persuasions from food trucks and vendors on the Second Avenue Bridge in downtown Cedar Rapids. The spring event also will serve as a fundraiser for Freedom Festival’s annual summer festival.

“We are excited to introduce Freedom FEASTival as a new and delicious addition that will take place outside of our typical festival dates,” said Marnie Schultz, events and marketing director for the Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival. “This event reflects our commitment to bringing the community together and celebrating the diverse flavors that our local culinary scene has to offer.”

Vendors interested in applying to serve at this event can find more information online at freedomfestival.com. Family-friendly activities, live entertainment, fireworks and more are scheduled from June 14 to July 4 for this year’s Freedom Festival.
