Entrepreneur winner bringing Korean food to NewBo City Market

NewBo City Market diners should keep an eye out for a new Korean option coming to Cedar Rapids soon.
Kwai Butler, the chef named Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year by NewBo City Market’s 2023 pitch competition, plans to bring her Korean-inspired menu items to the market soon. A recent note on the Korean bap (cooked rice) shop’s social media page said they plan to move into NewBo in June.
As the winner, Butler and her restaurant concept, Oja, will receive a space there rent-free for one year.
Oja was among several finalists that may already be familiar to foodies in Cedar Rapids: Tee’s Liberian Dish, The Cheesecake Lady, Midwest Chai, The Keto Way Bakery & Cafe and Los Ortega’s Pupusas.
