El Bajio closes one Cedar Rapids location

CEDAR RAPIDS — Little more than a year after it opened, El Bajio is closing its second location on Blairs Ferry Road.

The Mexican restaurant, which opened in September 2022 with a bigger and more bar-forward concept than its first location, announced its closure on social media Nov. 10.

“We are saying goodbye, but not completely,” the restaurant wrote. “There have been months of many ups and downs, economically speaking, but also personally. That is why we have made the decision to maintain a single location to continue being part of the small business community.”

The restaurant will continue to maintain its original location at 555 Gateway Pl. SW, which opened in 2016.
