District 23 Cantina closing in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS — Less than six months after it opened in July, District 23 Cantina has closed in Cedar Rapids.
The restaurant’s last day open at 2825 Sixth St. SW was Dec. 24.
The restaurant from Andres Torres, owner of Villa’s Patio in Cedar Rapids and Marion, offered several novelties in the crowded Mexican food scene, including a Sinaloa focus from the Pacific coast, Mexican-inspired sushi and steak options.
“Although our doors may be closing for now, we remain optimistic and look forward to the possibility of reconnecting with our valued customers again someday,” the restaurant posted online in its closing announcement.
