CEDAR RAPIDS — A new bakery and cafe has opened in the former Czech School Deli building.
Delia’s Baked Goods opened Nov. 1 at 999 Second St. SE.
The new spot offers scratch-made bread, pastries and cookies, customizable sandwiches and a lunch menu with quinoa bowls and avocado or goat cheese toast. In the future, Delia’s will plan to offer a weekend brunch menu.
It’s the first opening for new business owner Kaylee Pline, a pastry chef who came up through working at Cobble Hill, among other places.
“This is something I’ve wanted to do all my life,” Pline told The Gazette. “I decided there’s no better time than the present.”
Reduced hours of 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be available most days as Pline gets the bakery off the ground. In coming weeks, business hours will be adjusted to 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
