Czech and Slovak pop-up restaurant planned for Old World Christmas Market

CEDAR RAPIDS — A Czech and Slovak pop-up restaurant will be making an appearance this weekend at the National Czech and Slovak Museum & Library’s Old World Christmas Market.
The full-service restaurant, open Dec. 2 and 3, will feature traditional and authentic favorites for dine-in or carryout. The restaurant’s menu, available online now to tease your appetite, includes chlebicky open-face sandwiches, pea soup, fried cheese, beef goulash, rizek schnitzels, strapacky with sauerkraut and bacon, buchty sweet buns with marmalade, and babovka marbled Bundt cake.
If you just need a drink, mulled wine and hot chocolate will be available outside on the terrace.
Admission to the market and museum galleries is free, with extended hours throughout the weekend. Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
