CEDAR RAPIDS — A spirited new event is generating a different type of buzz as Halloween approaches.
“Boos or No Boos,” a new event being launched by No Proof Required, will be holding alcohol-free pop-up events throughout October.
The first event, set for Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. in Old Neighborhood Pub, 608 16th St. NE, will feature alcohol-free cocktails, non-alcoholic brews and classic bar beverages alongside food and live music by Les Ohlhauser.
The new nonprofit founded by Jess Linvell is “dedicated to mindful and intentional living.” Linvell, an event planner and “Sobriety Life Coach-in-training,” created the organization to provide inclusive, meaningful spaces for people to connect and enjoy social gatherings without pressures or expectations.
Its first signature event aligns with Sober October, an annual movement for participants to experiment with alcohol-free living for a month while focusing on mindfulness, wellness and intentional socialization.
