Cedar Rapids — A NewBo City Market bakery is rising quickly since opening last spring.
Anh’s Bread Therapy, opened by owner Anh Le in May, will soon be leaving NewBo for a Czech Village spot.
The bakery, popular for its artisan breads and Asian-inspired pastries, will soon be opening a larger location with an Asian-inspired teahouse at 77 16th Ave. SW — the building next to Sykora Bakery that was previously home to Rustic Chic Boutique.
Le will close Anh’s Bread Therapy at NewBo City Market on March 1, and will tentatively reopen as Anh’s Bread Therapy Bakery and Teahouse in mid-April.
Le said the timing was finally right to bring her long-term vision for a stand-alone teahouse to fruition.
“We can create something for the Czech Village,” she said. “I’m so proud to be a part of that.”
In addition to its current bakery offerings, the new location will offer full tea service and seating for a more relaxed environment — all with inspiration from British high tea service.
Originally from Vietnam, Le plans to offer days by reservation for Asian-inspired high tea, where patrons can experience various traditions from across the continent including Japan and China.
“Growing up in a tea country … I am so excited to spread that love to you,” Le told followers on social media as she announced the move.
She plans to make one more trip to Tokyo and Taipei before opening for teahouse inspiration.
