CEDAR RAPIDS — A new option for all the farm-fresh bounty of Iowa has opened a seasonal spot in NewBo City Market.
ABC Acres owner Abby Costello opened the temporary location on Nov. 5. It will remain open there through the end of December, at the least.
“It’s a higher than 50 percent possibility we will stay longer,” Costello said.
Customers may recognize ABC Acres from its longtime presence at farmers markets. Costello said the NewBo opening is another way to reach customers within city limits.
The store sells products made by Iowa producers including spice blends, specialty cheeses and meats, sauces, honey, jams, teas and gifts made by Iowa consignors.
“It’s everything you would find in a gourmet holiday gift basket or charcuterie board,” Costello said.
The NewBo City Market can also take orders for raw milk, chicken eggs, duck eggs and beef, which must be purchased off-site.
ABC Acres started four years ago to help Costello fund medical care for her son. It has a standing location at 6657 Mount Vernon Rd. SE.
Costello, a chef at YMCA Camp Wapsie and a former hairstylist, is a fourth generation farmer.
