CEDAR RAPIDS — The Noelridge Aquatic Center will open for swimming this holiday weekend.
The pool, at 1248 42nd St. NE, will be open for lap swimming from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Saturday through Monday.
Open swim times are 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 1 to 5 p.m. Monday.
The pool will be closed June 1-3 before reopening Friday evening, June 4.
Swim schedules depend on the weather, but pools will be open until at least 4 p.m. this weekend to sell season passes and punch passes.
Pre-season swimming schedule at Noelridge Aquatic Center
Saturday and Sunday: Lap swim 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., open swim 1 to 6 p.m.
Monday (Memorial Day): Lap swim 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., open swim 1 to 5 p.m.
Starting June 4: Lap swim 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., open swim 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Note: Pool is closed June 1-3, reopening for the season June 4.
The pool may not open if the temperature is below 70, if a severe storm moves through the city or if 50 or fewer people are in the pool in a one-hour period.
Noelridge Aquatic Center will open Friday, June 4, with lap swim from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., and open swim from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. It then opens for the season on June 5.
Cherry Hill
Cherry Hill Aquatic Center, 341 Stoney Point Rd. SW, will open June 11, with lap swimming from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. and evening swimming from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The regular season for Cherry Hill begins June 12.
The opening was delayed a week after Noelridge to allow time to train recently hired lifeguards, city officials said.
Other pools
The Bever, Jones and Ellis pools are scheduled to open in late June, depending on whether the city can hire more lifeguards.
Cedar Rapids has bumped lifeguard pay to $12 an hour and offered incentives to encourage people to apply.
Schedules vary by pool and are available at crrec.org. People may buy punch passes and season passes.
Passes
Punch pass prices have been lowered this summer because schedules may have to be adjusted because of staffing or COVID-19.
Passes are sold at the pools and the Northwest Recreation Center, 1340 11th St. NW.
Season passes expire Sept. 6, while punch passes are good for two years and expire Sept. 5, 2022. Call (319) 286-5566 if transferring from a punch pass to a season pass.
More information is available by calling Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation at (319) 286-5566.
