CRAG’s Katelyn Turbett wins 3 gymnastic titles

CEDAR RAPIDS - Katelyn Turbett of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won three events at Twisters' Twistin' to the Top meet earlier this month.
Competing in Level 5, Turbett won the vault, bars and all around and placed second in the beam and floor exercise.
Teammate Kinsley McFarland, in Level 4, won the vault.
SOMERSAULTS' SHEELEY WINS GOLD
CEDAR RAPIDS - Ashlyn Sheeley of Somersaults Gymnastics Center won the all-around title in Level 3 at the Twistin' to the Top meet, hosted by Twisters.
She also placed second in the vault, bars and floor exercise and third in the beam.
Other Somersaults' placewinners were Carly Cronbaugh in Level 3, Alyssa Jarchow and Esti Bishop in Level 4, and Paisley Joens and Cassidy Fangmann in Level 5.
SCHEETZ IS TOPS
Rami Scheetz of Cedar Rapids was named the adult open singles player of the year by the Iowa Tennis Association recently.
Scheetz, also the state high school doubles champion for Cedar Rapids Washington with partner Ty Sherman in the spring, is the youngest player to ever win the adult ITA award.
Chris Amelon of Iowa City was named the top adult recreational player of the year and Anthony Medina of North Liberty won the junior sportsmanship award.
The Baird Iowa Open, run by Mark Fiala, was named the outstanding adult/senior tournament of the year and the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex in Iowa City, under the direction of Michele Conlon, was named the member organization of the year,
Cedar Rapids Washington boys' tennis coach Rusty Graff was inducted into the Iowa District Hall of Fame.
