In Mexican and other Central American cultures, Quinceañera celebrations mark a girls 15th birthday and her passage from childhood to womanhood. Parties range from humble to extravagant, sometimes featuring dances, food, friends and family.

On August 13, Adilene Lugunas and her parents Luis and Susana Lagunas of Cedar Rapids threw a quinceanera party with hundreds of friends and family from all over eastern Iowa and beyond.
