There's something about Valentine's Day in Fairfield, thanks to Peter Farrelly, one-half of the filmmaking Farrelly Brothers.
He's in town as a program adviser and featured guest speaker in the David Lynch MFA Program in Screenwriting at Maharishi University of Management. So to celebrate the heart-filled holiday, he's screening his 1998 hit romantic comedy, 'There's Something About Mary,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday (2/14) in the Orpheum Theater, 121 W. Broadway Ave., Fairfield. A question-and-answer session will follow, ending with a Valentine-themed reception at the theater.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and suggested donation is $5 at the door.
Peter and Bobby Farrelly are best known as the creators of 'Dumb & Dumber,” 'Shallow Hal,” 'Kingpin” and 'Me Myself & Irene” - as well as 'There's Something About Mary,” starring Cameron Diaz, Ben Stiller and Matt Dillon.
'We are thrilled to have a filmmaker of Peter Farrelly's stature joining our team,” said Dorothy Rompalske, director of the university's screenwriting program. 'He is a practitioner of the Transcendental Meditation technique so, in addition to sharing his vast knowledge of screenwriting and the film industry, he embodies our program's unique objective, which emphasizes using Transcendental Meditation to help our screenwriting students access their creativity.”
