Comedian Amy Schumer to perform in Iowa City

IOWA CITY - Comedian Amy Schumer is scheduled to perform April 22 in Iowa City as part of a nationwide tour.

Schumer is creator, star, writer and executive producer of the award-winning Comedy Central television show 'Inside Amy Schumer.”

Hosted by the University of Iowa Campus Activities Board, she is set to perform at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at amyschumer.com, at the Welcome Center on the first floor of the Iowa Memorial Union or at ticketmaster.com. Tickets are $25 for the first 3,000 student tickets sold, $35 for the second 3,000 student tickets and $70 thereafter and for the public.

In addition to her Comedy Central show, Schumer wrote and starred in the 2015 movie 'Trainwreck” and currently is in production on the independent film 'Thank You For Your Service.” Her first book, 'The Girl with The Lower Back Tattoo,” will be published Aug. 16.

Last fall, 'Inside Amy Schumer” was honored with the first-ever Emmy Award for outstanding sketch variety series. She also was nominated for outstanding directing for a variety series and outstanding writing for a variety series.

Schumer received honors for individual achievement in comedy and outstanding achievement in comedy from the Television Critics Association in 2015. Additionally, she was awarded the 2015 Critic's Choice Television Award for best actress in a comedy series.

Among the show's accolades, it also received the Peabody Award in 2014.
