Best Bet: Chalk the Walk
Hoopla
May. 2, 2018 5:45 pm
Move over vehicles. Artists and spectators will rule downtown Mount Vernon for the annual Chalk the Walk festival, based on an Italian street-art movement that began in the 16th century. More than 500 artists will apply more than half a ton of chalk on their 'canvas.” Want to get in on the act? For $10, you can create a square in the 'Cinco de Mayo” collaborative piece measuring 34 feet by 44 feet, based on a stamp design by California artist Robert Rodriguez. Kids 10 and under can try their hand at breaking a pinata for candy and prizes.
