Larry Schweiger, president of the National Wildlife Federation, will lecture on “Wildlife Habitat and Climate Change” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Cedar Falls Public Library, 524 Main St., Cedar Falls.
Schweiger's lecture on the threat posed by climate change to Iowa's wildlife and habitat is part of a two-day tour through Iowa in conjunction with the federation's 75th anniversary.
Schweiger will be honoring Iowa's Ding Darling, an NWF founder, avid sportsman and a leader in America's conservation movement.
Schweiger will discuss how Iowa's pheasant population has fallen to a record low, in large part due to unprecedented winter and spring precipitation over the last five years.
Other Eastern Iowa stops include a visit to the Hawkeye Wildlife Management Area headquarters, 2564 Amana Rd. NW, Swisher, at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 25.
