Ice fisheree will raise money for lake improvements

INDEPENDENCE – An ice fishing derby will be held Feb. 13 on Swan Lake on the campus of the Heartland Acres Agribition Center.

The derby will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The entry fee is $200 per four-person team, with proceeds applied toward continued grounds and lake improvements.

Entries and fees are due by Jan. 24.

Entry forms and more information will be available by Jan. 5 at Heartland Acres Admissions Office, 2600 Swan Lake Blvd., Independence, or at www.heartlandacresusa.com

All alcohol must be purchased through the Event Center, and other beverages will be available for purchase through the Event Center.

Participants are responsible for augers, bait, fishing gear, and ice hole drilling, and a valid Iowa fishing license is required.
