Republicans restrict voting and undermine democracy

Based on Donald Trump's big lie of widespread voter fraud, Republican state legislators have introduced hundreds of bills to restrict access to voting. The courts, security experts, and recounts/audits found no evidence of voter fraud and determined the 2020 election was secure. Yet, Republicans use the big lie to justify passing state laws which make it harder for tens of millions of people to vote. Winning and regaining power in 2022 are of utmost importance to Republicans even if it means sacrificing democracy and citizens' rights to vote. Power over country!
Democrats are the protectors of democracy and voting rights. Democrats in the U.S. House passed the For the People Act (HR1). This bill eliminates undisclosed dark money used to influence elections, makes it easier for people to register and vote, and has safeguards against voter discrimination laws and gerrymandering of districts. U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson and all House Republicans voted no. Now, the For the People Act is in the U.S. Senate. Sens. Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst will undoubtedly be “power over country” Republicans and vote no.
For the sake of our democracy, it is imperative that each of us finds ways around the barriers to voting, vote in huge numbers, and defeat Republicans in 2022. Start today by registering to vote, updating your voter registration and urging family and friends to do the same.
