Republicans oppose good jobs for Americans

Republicans want to paint President Biden’s American Jobs Plan as just an infrastructure bill. And they want to define infrastructure as just roads, bridges, dams and the like. They are misrepresenting (What’s new?) the bill in two ways.
First, infrastructure includes things like a 21st Century electrical grid, broadband, and renewable energy. Second, the American Jobs Plan is not just an infrastructure bill. It is the American “Jobs” Plan. It is about providing good jobs for American workers. That includes what the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted as essential workers, who are often the lowest paid and whose employment is the most precarious.
The Republican mantra has always been that the best welfare program is a good job. So now when there is a plan to provide good jobs to American workers, the Republicans are opposed to it. A vibrant economy depends on workers having the money to buy the goods and services the alleged “job creators” are selling.
The bottom line is that everyone does better when everyone does better.
