The time is right now for Johnson County Supervisors and Iowa City Council members to actually discuss with community members the real needs for disbursement of the $54 million dollars provided by the American Rescue Plan (ARP) that will be coming soon.
As a supporter of the Excluded Workers Fund Coalition, which includes 15 local groups, we have had the opportunity to speak for two or three minutes during City Council and supervisor meetings. However, that is not discussion on both parts. It is time to meet in town halls for discussion with community members
It is time to invest in the human needs of our excluded workers, the undocumented immigrants, front line health care workers and recently freed convicted felons. These are the people in need. Invest in these people who will in turn invest in our local businesses.
Yes, Iowa City Council members and Johnson County Supervisors, now is the time to make decisions.
