The American Families Plan is what it looks like when the government works for the American people. This proposal will rebuild and strengthen our working class so that all of us can make a good living and have a good life. As a retired educator, it is clear to me that this plan will go a long way to ensure quality, affordable education for our students.
Free, universal preschool would be provided, prioritizing children from high-need areas. Curriculum would be developmentally appropriate. Inclusive and supportive classroom environments will increase success.
Two years of community college would be available. Investment in Pell Grants helps students seeking a certificate or two-or four-year degree.
Evidence-based strategies increase completion and retention rates.
The American Families Plan calls for diversifying and training teachers. Educators’ wages should reflect the importance of their work.
The plan is also necessary for the success of low-income and students of color. We have seen growth in jobs that require postsecondary training. Americans deserve additional support to build their skills, increase their earnings and remain competitive in the economy.
It is crucial to encourage Rep. Ashley Hinson and Sens. Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley to support the American Families Plan. The package will ensure that all families benefit when we demand a government that cares for us all.
