How The Gazette can improve our we-versus-them mentality

I am sure I am not alone in growing weary of the constant we vs. them mentality that has permeated our country. Whether it be white vs. Black, Trumper vs. liberal, red vs. blue, Cubs vs. Cardinals, Iowa Legislature vs. Iowans or any of the litany of conflicts we are immersed in.
I propose that The Gazette, once a month, include a Willie Ray Fairley section in the Sunday edition. You can retell his fabulous story over and over again. I cannot read about his selfless empathy for his fellow man without a smile creeping across my face. His words and actions serve to remind us all that we can and must do better. He epitomizes the “Iowa nice” we exemplified in the times before “me first” arrived in our state and country.
I have never met Willie Ray personally, (something I plan on remedying this Summer), but consider him brother, a fellow citizen of this planet and a role model we should all aspire to be. Thanks, man!
