Higher prices and less freedom under Iowa’s ethanol bill

It has come to my attention that a fuel mandate proposal is in the Iowa Legislature that would increase gas prices for many people, and take away my choice at the pump.
It would effectively ban the sale of "regular unleaded non-ethanol" gasoline as well as ban non-ethanol diesel for on-road vehicles, except during winter months. The bill also dictates that effective immediately, gas station owners must not sell any ethanol mixed gas lower than E10, and nothing short of E15 by 2028. The only non-ethanol gas that would be available is premium 91 octane, which is $. 40 to $. 50 higher than regular unleaded. Gas stations’ updates to storage tanks and equipment to accommodate these changes will cost on average $500,000 and the gas stations would be fined or lose their license if they don't comply!
I believe ethanol is important for many Iowans. I also believe it will come at a great cost to many people like myself. I currently use "regular unleaded" gas. It is more fuel efficient and it is also healthier for my engines.
If this bill passes I am going to have to pay more for gas. I know people who drive vehicles manufactured before 2001 and those models cannot use E15. Some of these folks can't afford a new car and certainly can't afford higher gas prices. Iowans do not need this mandate! Please ask your state representative and senator to vote "no“ on the fuel mandate, SF549 and HF859
