Congress: go big on infrastructure
Jun. 28, 2021 6:00 am
Have we succumbed to a “new normal” for our sick planet? We have done that before when we faced the energy crisis of the ‘70s and ‘80s and decided to massively increase coal production to ease our dependence on petroleum. Back then, as now, the fossil fuel industry knowingly lied to us about the environmental consequences of mining and burning coal.
That huge fabrication has cost us dearly, but we continue, our heads in the sand, to support the myths of “clean coal” and “harmless fracking,” as our children and grandchildren suffer the very real effects of ignoring science and reality.
We have a chance to avert the death of our planet. We can Transform, Heal and Renew by Investing in a Vibrant Economy. Join CCI members and call on Congress to support the THRIVE Act. A new transformational bill for a just economic recovery that would create 15 million union jobs to take on the climate crisis.
