What is your reaction to President Barack Obama's executive order on immigration?
FROM OUR INBOX
President Barack Obama's order on immigration is the response to years of the Congressional inaction. Iowa's Congressional delegation and the state leadership should to what they are paid for by taxpayers: Attend to the nation's problems, not to the agendas of special interests.

I am married to a Mexican who was illegal and we battled four years with immigration process and spent a good $15,000. I think people should stop judging the Mexicans, its not illegal to be here: 'Land of the FREE.” Wish people would see each other eye to eye instead of what color they are. People come here illegally because they can't afford to pay off the corrupted officers down there.

The President is acting like a spoiled kid throwing a temper tantrum. He wants what he wants, when he wants it. He does not care who he hurts in the process.

FROM FACEBOOK
' Christine Z.: It was necessary to do this. Congress were and are still free to vote on the immigration bill they have sat on now for the past year.
' Leslie S.: If Congress would do their job instead of naming buildings, POTUS wouldn't have to do it.
' Marshall B.: It was something that should have happened years ago. As far as I hear, he went as far as the law let him.
' Kris S.: It was a brilliant move. Only teaching them a lesson. Pass a bill.
' Dennis F.: I think pointing to the fact that the potential they have for income ($210 billion over 10 years), and wanting to keep them here is shunning fiscal responsibility by our government. We're talking nearly 5 million immigrants facing deportation, who are here illegally or their paperwork is not in order. If they work to become a citizen, they should have every liberty a citizen should have, but they're not. Instead of deporting them on what would amount to our dime, our government is proving the fact that they have no money by keeping them here - illegally.
' Ray W.: I think he should be impeached, tried, convicted and removed from office.
' Kurt B.: Obama did NOTHING while he had a majority in the House and Senate.
' Joek N.: Iowa's congressional delegation should say: 'Thank you, Mr. President.”
' Danny W.: Executive orders are illegal by either party as far as I'm concerned! There is a reason that there is a balance of power built into our government.
' Amanda S.: He isn't the first and he won't be the last to have to take action on immigration if no one is going to pass a bill.
' Krista C.: Come to the country LEGALLY and it won't be an issue.
' Blaize H.: This is not about right or wrong. It's about gaining votes for Democrats.
' Brenda M.: Enforce the laws already on the books.
' Billie M.: He wouldn't have a need for this action if the Republicans would work with him, not against him all the time.
' Jennifer B.: Laws are in place to keep people safe and we keep getting further and further away. My husband is a Canadian and (U.S. citizen now) and we had to jump through hoops for his citizenship and pay a ton of money, but we followed the law and did it right, that's what all should do whether they're working here, have kids here or not!
' Michelle R.: My grandmother always said to take care of my own backyard first before doing anything else (and I'm sure that works figuratively as well as literally). Evidently, Obama and his people think the whole world is his/their backyard. So exhausted with bad government. My grandmother also taught me to be humane and help others in need. If America/Americans were in a better way, maybe things would be different.
Supporters of U.S. President Barack Obama march in front of the White House in Washington, after he spoke on television about relaxing U.S. immigration policy. Obama imposed the most sweeping immigration reform in a generation late last month, easing the threat of deportation for about 4.7 million undocumented immigrants and setting up a clash with Republicans.
