What are the qualities you think are important in a school superintendent?
FROM OUR INBOX
How about someone who truly cares for the kids and stands up to bullies no matter the color of the skin. Tired of lip service.

My ideal superintendent would have the establishment of a positive learning environment as his most important goal. Students, staff and the learning process would be treated with respect at all times. Students would be accountable for their behavior as well as for their learning. People or behaviors that detract from a positive learning environment would not be tolerated.
I would most definitely not want a superintendent whose goal is to inflict 'innovation” upon the district for the purpose of enhancing his resume or creating a legacy.

Wisdom, humility, patience, affability, dedication, diligence and the ability not to take oneself too seriously, all mixed in with a sense of humor.

FROM FACEBOOK
' Eric D.: Works for cheap wages. Administrators generally make a lot of money. Ours makes 183K per year with about 1200 kids.
' Dennis H.: Someone that really understand fiscal responsibility, not someone who allows a huge administrative building to be built while requesting a tax increase to take care of our schools.
' Ann P.: Someone with a modicum of intelligence, common sense, not politically correct, who won't arbitrarily change things just because someone on staff thought it would be a good idea and won't make changes and leave staff to figure out how to implement the change.
' Jess R.: Appreciation for the teachers in the district.
' Tim P.: Someone who will sell the new admin. center, move all employees who don't have contact with students back into temporary trailers and then invest the wasted cash back to the students in the schools!
