' Bail has been set at $10 million for a North Liberty man accused of shooting and killing a woman inside the Coral Ridge Mall this month. Legal experts say the amount could be the highest bail ever ordered in this district. Do you think it was excessive or appropriate?
FROM OUR INBOX
Appropriate. He could still present a danger.

I don't think bail or parole should be an option and I think it's a shame Iowa doesn't have the death penalty.

FROM FACEBOOK
' Jan C.: Appropriate.
' Carrie T.: He should have been remanded without bail.
' Abby C.: What is the point in asking the readership to 'weigh in” here? The judicial system has this well in hand and can, and will determine what is appropriate via due process.
' Sandy B.: Beyond appropriate.
' Mike D.: Not high enough.
' Kate S.: Definitely appropriate. He needs to stay locked up.
' Cynthia B.: The amount of bail should not be the issue. That bail was even a consideration should be the issue.
' Lisa S.: I think no bail because it's a murder charge. He shouldn't be given the option to bail out.
' Rachael E.: $10 million cash bail is the same as no bail.
' Larry B.: I feel bail should be based on evidence with as much evidence in this case there should be no bail.
' Jeri C.: Bail should be denied in certain cases. Short of that, setting bail high enough to ensure the suspect can't come up with the money is the next best thing.
' Donna D.: I feel it's appropriate, but wonder why his is so high when other accused murderers have a lot less?
' Kelly H.: I think he should be held without bail. The public should not have to worry about this person having a remote chance of getting out of jail.
' Adam S.: Wanna make sure he stays put. Wish we had the death penalty.
' Jennifer C.: With murder cases there shouldn't even be an option for bail. I like to think that's why the judge set it so high. I wouldn't want him wandering the streets.
' Tim B.: Triple it, then double it, then triple it again.
' Jesse D.: I think it's less than appropriate. He shouldn't be given the privilege of bail no matter how high.
' Jenna B.: Should be no bail.
' Lilly A.: Appropriate!!
' Erica W.: I say the bail is perfect where it is and I hope other cases in the future use this one as an example and set bail high as well.
' Ann R.: The point of bail is to assure that the alleged criminal will make scheduled court appearances and the amount should be high enough to be a deterrent to skipping town. This amount should do it.
' Chuck W.: Bail should not even be possible!
' Lee R.: He doesn't deserve a bail.
' Danielle B.: Why not? They say he admitted that he did it so why give him a lower bail that he may be able to make and have him do the same things to others as retaliation for their comments/actions?
' Kathleen B.: He shouldn't have bail at all.
