Zwicki, Bessie I.
Bessie I. Zwicki, 90, of Hiawatha, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Living Center West in Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Lensing's Oak Hill, 209 Holiday Road in Coralville. Services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Coralville United Methodist Church with Reverend Doug Williams officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Iowa City. Memorials may be directed to Coralville United Methodist Church or Saint Luke's Hospice.
Bessie was born Oct. 31, 1919 in Swisher, Iowa, the daughter of William and Mary (Andrlik) Slezak. She married James Zwicki May 13, 1978 in Coralville, Iowa. Bessie was a homemaker. Bessie had an amazing gift for crocheting and she very much enjoyed baking. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband, James; sons, David Maresh (Joyce) and Larry Maresh (Sandra), all of Swisher, and Thomas Detweiler (Nancy) of Hiawatha; daughters, Carol Eldeen-Todesco (Joe) of Fort Pierce, Fla., Connie Detweiler Lamp (Ron) of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Deborah Griffith (Eric) of Goldsboro, N.C.; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Slezak, and a sister, Mary Ann Drahos.
