Zundel, Austin
Austin Zundel, 27, of Swansboro, N.C., died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home in Swansboro, N.C. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Havelock Fire and Rescue, Havelock, N.C., with the Rev. Stephen Smith officiating. Military honors will be provided.
Austin was born Nov. 29, 1983, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated from Linn-Mar High School in 2002. He honorably served in the USMC from 2004 to 2006. Austin graduated from the Crystal Coast Fire Academy in 2010 and became a member of the Havelock Fire Department of Havelock, N.C. He also volunteered with the Piney Green Volunteer Fire Department of Jacksonville, N.C., since 2008.
Austin loved hunting, fishing, NASCAR, country music and most of all, his beloved four-legged friend, Ali.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; mother, Diane; father, LuWayne; brother, Blake; grandparents, Les and JoEllen Dollinger; aunt and uncle, Barbara and Joe Walsh; and cousins, Alison, Emily and Joey.
