Zona A. Hildebrand of Marion, passed away at age 85, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Thursday, July 7, 2022.
Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 11. Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday July 12, at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marion. The Rev. Jeff Frohner will officiate. Burial at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Zona was born on July 12, 1936, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Selma (Fay) Matteson. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1955. She married Gordon K. Hildebrand Sr. on July 24, 1955, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Zona worked at Rockwell-Collins for 35 years and retired with Gordon in 1992. They wintered in Apache Junction, Ariz., until 2015. Zona enjoyed volunteering at the County Home, at her church and the American Legion. She was an avid quilter and belonged to quilting groups at her church in Marion and Arizona. She belonged to the Auxiliary at the American Legion, Post 298. Zona was a charter member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection. She was a loving and caring person always thinking of family and friends and how she could help others.
She is survived by her children, Gordon “Chip” Jr. (Cathi) of Ankeny and Brenda Hildebrand of Marion; grandchildren, Shasta (Rick) Hillmer of Adel and Austin (KayLynn) Hildebrand of Jewell; great-grandchildren, Annika and Levi Hillmer of Adel and Skylar Hildebrand of Jewell; and sister, Marsha Rexroat of Webster City.
Zona was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; parents; and her brother, LeRoy Matteson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous.
