Zind, Robert Kerin
Robert Kerin Zind, 93, a former resident of Woodruff, Wis., died Tuesday, July 27, 2011, at West Ridge Care Center from complications of pneumonia. A graveside service will be held at a later date at St. Patrick Cemetery in Woodruff. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Robert is survived by two daughters, Mary (Duane) Abbey of Cedar Rapids and Roberta (Jay) Hopkins of Sacramento, Calif.; three grandchildren, Evan L. Abbey of Urbandale, Kerin M. Abbey of O'Fallon, Mo., and Emily M. Wong of Boulder, Colo.; three great-grandchildren, Hailey N., Zachariah J. and Hannah M. Abbey, all of Urbandale; and one brother, Richard Zind of Prairie Village, Kan.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Ann (Salo) Zind, who died April 27, 1993; and his brother, Jack Zind, who died June 22, 2011.
Robert was born Nov. 22, 1917, in Evanston, Ill., the son of Edward A. and Helen (Kerin) Zind. He married Florence Salo on Aug. 27, 1938, in Wakefield, Mich. Robert served in the Army during World War II. He worked for many years in advertising sales in the Chicago area, retiring in 1975 to the Woodruff, Wis., area.
Robert was a talented woodworker.
He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
