Zeman, Dorothy Lillian
Dorothy Lillian Zeman, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at the Halmar Residential Care Center. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, at the All Saints Catholic Church with the Rev. David O'Connor officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be held at St. John's Cemetery. Arrangements provided by Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
She is survived by her special friends, Joe and Marge Gase; sisters-in-law, Margaret Netolicky and Carol Corrigan of Clive; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, “B. J.” Zeman, who died in 2009; parents, Robert J. and Lillian Reis Bell; a brother, Robert Bell; and brother-in-law, Lumear Netolicky.
Dorothy Bell Zeman was born in Omaha, Neb., on Nov. 16, 1924, the daughter of Robert P. and Lillian Reis Bell. The family moved to Cedar Rapids in 1940. Dorothy attended and graduated from Franklin High School in Cedar Rapids. Dorothy was employed as a coordinator for 41 years at Weyerhauser Corp., until her retirement. Bernie and Dorothy were married at Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids, on Sept. 25, 1945. Dorothy was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She enjoyed her many friends and assisting with the All Saints Thrift Sale for many years.
Words of Wisdom from Dorothy: “Without God we are nothing. I am a survivor because God is and has been with me.”
