Zelma Mary Burr, 101, died May 4, 2018, at Lone Tree Care Center.
Zelma was born Sept. 27, 1916, in Riverside, Iowa, to Mary Heitzman Schnoebelen and Theodore George Schnoebelen. The eldest of nine children, Zelma attended school at St Mary's Catholic School in Riverside. She was united in marriage to Lorren Kenneth Burr on Feb. 2, 1940, and they made their home in rural Johnson County.
Zelma will be remembered fondly by her five daughters, Barbara (Larry) Wise, Virginia Miehe, Donna (Jerry) Kaalberg, Phyllis (Michael) Selby and Rhonda (Kevin) Case. Also surviving are four sisters, Delores Kempf, Dorothy Johnson, Frances Self and Anita Mehaffey; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lorren Burr; son-in-law, Douglas Miehe; great-granddaughter, Kylen Miehe; brothers, Alvin, Herb and Verne; and sister, Colletta.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Liberty. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Henderson-Barker Funeral Home in West Liberty. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty.
