Zakar, Anna Maria
Anna Maria Zakar, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Graveside services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Christopher Podhajsky.
Anna was born April 30, 1928, in Germany. On Oct. 22, 1949, she married Joe Zakar in Kaiserslaughtern, Germany. She worked for Green Square Rest Homes for 11 years, Iowa Manufacturing for 17 years, and Recovery Health Services for 11 years. She enjoyed caring for people who needed help.
Survivors include her sister, Renate Zinn of Germany; and nieces and nephews, including Frank Ciastko and family of Decatur, Ill.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.
