Zacariah Thomsen
ZACARIAH THOMSEN Cedar Rapids Our beloved son, brother and friend, Zacariah Tate Thomsen, left the physical world on April 26, 2016. He was a compassionate, intelligent, kind-hearted, loyal and funny man, not to mention gorgeous. Having graduated from Mount Mercy University summa cum laude in December 2015, Zac was set to participate in commencement ceremonies in May 2016. He made a difference in the lives of all who knew him; and looked forward to making that his career. A man of deep compassion, Zac stood up for those who were bullied and lived by principle. In honoring Zacariah's life, his family aspires to live up to his standards and be a positive presence in this world. Born Sept. 25, 1991, Zacariah was one of a kind. Though he faced many struggles, Zac approached life with a joyful spirit, playful nature and child-like wonder. He is survived by his mother, Sharon Tate Thomsen; his father, Gary Thomsen; and his sister, Shanece Thomsen, who are extremely grateful for the blessing of having shared life with Zac. Good-byes are the hardest when the story is not yet finished. Zac was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed for all time. He has forever changed those who loved him and will live in their hearts. In Zacariah's honor, charitable donations may be made to PFLAG or the family memorial fund. A visitation is set for Friday, April 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Unity Center of Cedar Rapids, 3791 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE. A celebration of life service will take place at Unity Center at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, with a luncheon to follow.
