Yvonne Theel, 93, of Marion passed away April 20, 2025.
Celebration of life takes place on May 11, 2025 at Lowe Park (indoors) 4500 10th St, Marion, IA, from noon-2:00 pm.
Yvonne was born the daughter of Eleanor & John Henry Lammers, in Petersburg, IA on August 22, 1931. She married Niles Theel on January 4, 1949.
She was very creative, artistic and talented. She loved to sing and dance, especially to polka music. She was active at church and loved running the Country Store at St. Joes Fun Days. She loved to travel with her family and enjoyed making memories at Backbone Beach.
Her grandchildren were her special joy. Her love grew even more with her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Every one of them knew her love was boundless for them. She was a bright light and a force to be reckoned with. Her daughter Sharon read something that summed up Yvonne. 'I don't know how my story will end, but nowhere in my story will it ever read... I gave up.' That was our mom. Tell Dad hi for us, and go have some fun together again.
Yvonne is survived by daughters Wendy Martinson, Patsi (Hal) Gann, and Sharon (Joe) Chiaramonte, grandchildren Matt (Laura) Martinson, Staci (Jim) Schiltz, Gidget (Jason) Hagmeier, John Henry (Alisha) Martinson, Katie (Ernest) Frazier, 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Niles, of 71 years and her parents. She was the last survivor of 9 siblings.
Thanks to the staff and residents of Silver Oak Nursing Home in Marion for the good care and friendships.
Thanks to Stewart Baxter Funeral and Memorial Services in Cedar Rapids for their support and for listening to our many stories of our one-of-a-kind mom and grandma.
